Message from the President
Sharon Peavy

Hello!

On behalf of the California Club Board, I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know about the exciting changes coming to our Club in 2026.

Starting in May 2026, we will be changing from our regular monthly dinner dances to host Bring Your Own Everything events.  We are calling this series of dances 2026 Summerfest in the Village and they will be held on the 4th Tuesday of each month from May through September.  Summerfest will culminate with an end of summer celebration at California Dreaming on September 22, 2026.  Tickets will be priced at $10 for members and $25 for non-members for each event.  Along with great music and fun, all our events will feature prize drawings.

Our decision to make this change is based on several factors.  Many people have mentioned to us that they like the idea of more casual parties during the summer. We listened and that’s what we have planned.

We have an outstanding band lineup for Summerfest, starting with Decades (playing the best music of every decade from the 70s to today) in May. This amazing band played for us at the PAC and received rave reviews.  We decided to bring them to the clubhouse so you could dance to their entertaining show.  Village favorite Tricia Freeman, with her blues-rock voice and bold, humorous stage presence, will perform in June.  You’ll dance the night away to all the greatest sounds of rock and roll.

The highly popular tribute band Creedance & Company will bring their maracas and tambourines to share with the audience.  You will be invited to join in their great music and dance celebration in July.   Higher Ground, a Stevie Wonder 10-piece tribute band, will keep us dancing the whole night long in August.  This fantastic group previously performed at the PAC and we are fortunate to get them back for an evening of dancing to Stevie’s hits. They will also play music he wrote for other artists like Chaka Khan.

Summerfest concludes at Clubhouse 2 with a larger and more exciting California Dreaming.  There will be more tables for the ever-popular table decorating contest, table seating inside and outside and the full lawn area available to set up canopies and chairs.  The fabulous tribute band Jimmy’s Buffet will highlight California Dreaming.    With their rich Caribbean harmonies, live steel pans and vibrant congas, they are the perfect act to help us bid adieu to summer.

Although details are still being worked out, there are some things we can confirm.  As with all our clubhouse events, Summerfest will be reservations only.  You will be able to let us know where you want to sit, or with whom, and we will do everything possible to meet your request.  There is no waiting in line, you walk right in and find your table.  These will be BYOE events but we are exploring bringing in a variety of vendors to provide food – stay tuned, we will keep you updated.

We will have our traditional sit-down dinners from January-April and October-November, that’s six dinners.  Everything about them will remain the same – reservations required, no-lines or waiting, complimentary wine, no price change, etc.  We have great entertainment secured for 2026 and our website will keep you in the know.

The board has determined that after many years of keeping the club dues at $35, we must raise them to $40 starting January 1, 2026.  As you know, we offer a full 12-month membership, so if you are not a current member, this is the time to join.  All our events, exclusive of PAC events, have special pricing for members.  You can save money by joining now and paying the member price versus non-member price for our events.

The California Club is a charter club and one of the oldest in the Village.  It has a long and glorious history and we want it to last for generations to come.  We understand that change is difficult but we think that these exciting changes, as well as keeping some of our best traditions, will make 2026 an exciting year for all of us.

Information on these and all California Club events can be found on our website californiaclublwv.com.

Thank you for your time.  If you have any questions about anything in this letter, please reach out to  info@californiaclublwv.com and put Attention Sharon in the subject line.  I will respond to you as quickly as I can.

Regards,

Sharon Peavy
